THE NARRATIVE
THE ROAD SO FAR...
There is a legend, one that many are unsure of the claims' truth, that states the Titans ruled over the land, sea, and sky. In Greece's ancient world, people believed each word, each God, each story to be real - but slowly over time, their faith in the Gods disappeared, and with their belief, the Gods themselves did too.
Many people don't know these legends, these stories told to young babes to scare them into a slumber...were true. The story of the Titan Cronus eating each of his children in fear of them overthrowing him? True. The story of Rhea, his wife, giving him a stone instead of his youngest son, Zeus? True. The story of Zeus coming back and saving his brethren from his father and banishing the Titans and taking Olympus for himself? True. The story of Zeus's anger creating Pandora and her box to send darkness into the world and punish the mortals? True.
These stories are true, but many of the tales hold falsehood, a game of telephone that over centuries has lost the truth to it. But what people don't know...is the Gods of Old are still alive, and they have lost a grave battle.
Centuries ago, when the world began to shift, new religions appearing, the Gods of Old began to lose their powers. They grew weak due to the prays they once received dwindling, and belief in them fading. Due to their dwindling powers, Cronus took that time to gain his powers in the Underworld. And slowly, over time, he rose to power and escaped. He gathered followers and even made a deal with Hecate, to once and for all get rid of the Gods of Olympus and take it for himself. Unbeknownst to him, she wasn't on his side. As he said, she did, finding Pandora and taking the box from her hands, but she didn't do as instructed.
Instead of locking the Gods inside like Zeus had done many centuries ago to different Gods and Titans, she instead stored their powers within. Having agreed with this method to stay alive, Zeus ordered everyone to give up their powers and live a mortal life until they could defeat Cronus and his followers. Many refused but eventually gave in. With their powers locked in the box, they disappeared from the world. Hecate, having hidden the real Pandora's Box, fashioned a new one of magic and presented it to Cronus. Much like Rhea before her, having given Cronus and rock instead of her newborn child, watched as Cronus destroyed the box. He thought it held the Olympians within it, and with its destruction, they were killed. He was wrong.
Since the 9th century, the Gods of Old have lived in secret among the humans, moving from place and place and taking over the lives of different humans. Many of the Gods even refused to cross paths with each other, mother and child separated, husband and wife torn apart...sticking together was a death sentence. Thus, Cronus was left to rule over Olympus himself, hunting down demigods and other creatures that blindly followed his children. He did so without fear, without paranoia; he believed that they were all dead, and he was the only one left. Like many who believe these are just legends, he was ignorant to the truth, too blind to see it all. And that will be his downfall.
You may be wondering...what is happening now? Well, weary traveler...that is the case. The story isn't finished. But the story has led to one place...Eden, New York. And it is in this little town, filled with creatures from lore, that the Gods of Old have begun appearing. It's time to gain back the belief of the mortals, to fish their powers from the depths of Pandora's Box, and finally defeat Cronus. But do they still have the element of surprise? Or will this all be in vain?
